We are proud of our Pre-K program which offers a comprehensive learning program for children ages 3 and 4.  We focus on a "Playing to Learn" model, which insists that child learn as they play. We have a class ratio of 1 adult to every 10 students that allows us to work hands on with the children as they "play to learn."  

Each day pre-k students arrive at 7:30 am and eat breakfast in their rooms.  We are proud to announce that our school provides a free breakfast to every student! Throughout the day, students participate in activities including center time,  circle time, library, physical education, music, art, and computer. Students are required by the state to have 1 hour rest time.  Their day ends at 2:00pm each day.

Our current curriculum, which incorporates the Playing to Learn model, is Macmillan/McGrraw Hill's Little Treasures program. It is a theme based program as follows: 

1. Who are We?
2. Making Friends
3. Families
4. Food
5. Our Neighborhood
6. Transportation
7. Animals Around Us
8. Nature
9. Animals Around Us
10. Health and Fitness

Each theme is divided into five parts:

1. Alphabet Time which includes teaching sounds, alphabet recognition, print awareness, and oral language.
2. Book Time which includes reading books related to the theme.
3. Center Time which includes skills from our theme.  They are presented during our center time and children have a chance to do hands on projects.
4. Small Groups which invovles putting the children that are having difficulties with the material into small focus groups in order to help them understand.
5. Content Area which includes Social studies, Science, Math, and Music skills. These are presented in conjunction with our themes.
