Alamo City School is equipped with three computer labs that provide the students with the highest quality of technology access and education. Students K-6 have access to two desktop computer labs containing 25 desktop running Windows XP and a wide array of educational software including Microsoft Office 2003 and Adobe Creative Suite. In addition, Alamo City has a wireless mobile lab with 12 top of the line HP notebooks running Windows XP. Other technology provided includes access to HDTV and SmartBoard technologies. Collectively, these technologies provide the students with a well-rounded education in technology that will make them more than ready for the next level in learning. The 5th and 6th grade computer lab contains 30 workstations. Alamo City School is unique to most elementary schools in that all 5th and 6th grade students receive 50 minutes daily computer class instruction throughout the entire school year taught by a licensed technology teacher. “My goal is to continuously infuse technology across the curriculum, working closely with the other teachers to help students have a broader knowledge and understanding. My belief is that students should excel beyond learning the basic uses of computer programs. Students are taught Word to become better writers; PowerPoint to become better communicators; Publisher to develop awareness and detail; and Excel to become skilled in problem solving. My job is to prepare them with the tools they need to compete in a global society. A continual effort is made to attain compliance with the Technology Standards put forth by the Tennessee Department of Education.” Kim Irvin- Technology Instructor Grades 5-6 Links to internet safety websites http://www.kidscom.com/games/isg/isg.html http://www.bpl.org/kids/Netiquette.htm http://www.fbi.gov/kids/k5th/safety2.htm http://www.4kids.org/safesurf/ http://www.safekids.com/quiz/ Request for Proposals Erate Internal Connections - Due Feb. 6, 2009 Training Carbon Copy File
